I've experienced burnout.

Burnout is something I experienced really early on in my career.

Even though I was a mental health professional, I actually didn’t know a lot about burnout. I had only been working 2.5 years and was feeling totally uninterested and just annoyed at my job. I took this as a personal failure and determined that I must be doing something wrong.

I shared with an older supervisor that I just wasn’t feeling the same at work and their response was, “you’re too young to be burnt out!”

I have heard this many, many times over the last 5 years. I never want another women to feel like their distress isn't valid.

It doesn't have to be like this.
